About the Journal

JCISS (Discourse: Journal of Critical Inquiry and Social Studies) is an interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed, open-access journal published by Diskursus Institute. The journal provides a scholarly platform for critical inquiry, intellectual engagement, and interdisciplinary dialogue on contemporary issues shaping society, religion, culture, politics, knowledge, and social transformation.

Grounded in the conviction that complex social realities require perspectives that transcend disciplinary boundaries, JCISS welcomes original research and critical scholarship that contribute to the advancement of knowledge and the enrichment of public discourse. The journal encourages analytical, theoretical, empirical, and policy-oriented studies that address local, national, regional, and global challenges from diverse intellectual traditions and methodological approaches.

Particular attention is given to issues concerning Indonesia, Southeast Asia, and the Global South, while remaining open to comparative and international perspectives. JCISS publishes articles in English and Bahasa Indonesia and employs a double-blind peer-review process to ensure the highest standards of academic quality, originality, integrity, and scholarly contribution.
